The story behind this piece

Leonardo's aerial screw — a helical sail on a mast over a round platform — is one of the most famous machine drawings ever made. Vite Aerea redraws it with its hatched sail and dimension lines, and traces a dashed line of descent to a modern quad-rotor drone in plan view. MDXXVI → MMXXVI. Every great machine began as a sketch.
